“Oi Devin, hurry up mate, the ash could start back up any second!” Zac called to his cameraman, who was busy fiddling with the tripod. Devin wiped away a bead of sweat and gave Zac a thumbs up. “All set Zac, just gotta fix the lightning. It’s hitting you all wrong.”[break]

“I’ll say! Zappa! What are you doin’ mate? That light’s goin’ straight into me bloody eyes! Scooch over so you can get me’ good side.” [break]

Zappa the Heliolisk closed his frill, shuffled a few feet over, and opened it again, using LIGHT SCREEN to cast perfect stage lighting on the scene. [break]

“Okay Zac, when you’re ready.” Said Devin, and a red light flicked on next to the lens.

Zac set one foot up on a nearby rock and struck a suitably excited pose. He looked right down the barrel and grinned.

“ Howzit goin’ all you Ramsay Rippers, it’s Zac, comin’ at you from the Southern slope of our very own Mt Chimney. The locals call this place Jagged Pass, on account of the craggy volcanic stone strew all hither and yonder, but I like to think of it more as just another facet of this place’s rugged charm.” He said, tapping his boot on the rock. “Anyways, enough of my jabberin. There’ll be plenty of time to appreciate the natural beauty later on, for now let’s kick it off with a very special episode of Wide Lens, our little segment that gives all you super fans out there a peek behind the scenes goings-on of our adventures. You all know me by now, hopefully, I’m Zac, head honcho of this ‘ere crew and the smilin’ mug that you folks can’t get enough of apparently.” he said, still grinning as he approached the camera. “But what you may not know, is that this is far from a one-man crew.”

Zac spun the camera around, showing a quick pan of shrubby foliage and deep red rock before settling on Devin. “This ‘ere is Devin, our tech wizard and the real brains behind the operation. He’s the one who sorts all that social media. Postin’ on the Togetic and the Chatter and whatnot. Give ‘em a wave Devin!”[break]

“Hey everyone.” Said Devin, adjusting his cap and pushing up his glasses. [break]

“Speak up Dev! Big voice for all the people at home.”[break]

“Hey everyone!” he said, louder. “It’s, uh, nice to meet you all!”[break]

“That’s the stuff, nice one Dev.” Said Zac, spinning the camera further around to settle on a Camerupt, who was chewing on a mouthful of ashy leaves. “And this lovely lady is Helen, our hired muscle and local guide. She does all the heavy lifting, carrying up to four hundred pounds of supplies and camera equipment, not to mention givin’ Devin and I a lift when the going gets tough. I’d wager she could tow a bloody agron up the mountain if she had to, ain’t that right Helen?”[break]

The Camerupt stripped another branch of leaves and turned to Zac, eyes half close, jaw grinding away at the fibrous foliage. “That’s the way, you’ve earned a rest and a half.” Zac said, patting her flank. [break]

“Which brings us to the final member of our crew: Zappa.” He turned the camera directly into Zappa’s light. “Turn that off for a sec mate so that fine folks at home can get a look at you.”[break]

The LIGHT SCREEN faded, and Zac focussed in on the Heliolisk. “Now Zappa here has been with me since we were both just ankle biters. He’s damn near a brother to me, and by far me mum’s favorite. Can’t say I blame her. He saves me a fortune on the power bill each month.”[break]

Zappa made a happy chirp, opening his mouth wide. “You and me both mate.” Zac said, crouching down in front of the camera. “Well that’s it for today you Rippers. Hope you enjoyed this little peek behind the LIGHT SCREEN, as it were.” He said, chuckling at his own joke. Gray flakes started to flutter down, landing on Zac’s khaki shirt. “Well, looks like it’s about time to start finding shelter. Until next time. See ya’ later Feraligatr!” Zac said, beaming into the camera.

“In a while Krookodile!” Replied his crew, with Zappa and Helen using ROUND to chorus Devin’s voice, and the red light flicked off.
